Okay, supposedly, here's what I found out about Nasu no Yoichi's role in the Yashima battle, as displayed in the Heike Monogatari. Apparently, he's not a Heike (there goes my kinky fantasy of Takitsuba battling it out in Yoshitsune!) LOL... but he's... *drum roll*... THE BEST / MOST SKILLED ARCHER IN THE GENJI SAMURAI TROOPS

It was on the afternoon of February 19, 1185, that Minamoto no Yoshitsune mounted another surprise attack against the Tairas at the then Yashima Island. Frightened by the imagined immensity of enemy forces, the Tairas jumped into their boats and sailed off. A fierce battle lasted for hours.

Now the sun was setting. Both sides began to retreat, when a fair vessel parted from the Taira legions and stopped about 80 m from the beach. Then a beautiful lady appeared from the cabin, produced a pole with a bright red fan on its top and beckoned to the puzzled warriors on the shore.

"What does she mean?" said Yoshitsune.

"Perhaps she is inciting one of us to shoot the fan. Or she may be inviting you to come out onto the front line her archers," said his attendant.

"Then let it be shot down by our best archer," said Yoshitsune.

Soon a young man called Nasu no Yoichi appeared on horseback with bow and arrow in his hands. The north wind was strong. The boat was tossing up and down. The fan painted with the golden sun at its center was fluttering on the pole.

All the Tairas in the boats and all the Minamotos on the shore were watching Yoichi. What would he do? Would he succeed?

Yoishi rode into the water as far as he could. But it was still about 70 m to the target. He closed his eyes and prayed to Hachiman, the Japanese God of War. Then the wind fell for a moment. He shot. The arrow pierced through a little above the rivet. The fan, flying up a moment or two, came floating down, glittering in the setting sun. There was great applause from both sides, even from the Heike, despite that this defeat means an omen of their doom.

Supposedly this was one of the monumental scenes in Yashima battle. Nasu no Yoichi shooting that Heike fan from such an impossible distance. Another monumental scene in Yashima battle was the part where Yoshitsune dropped his bow in the water and risked his life going riding into the water on his horse and his heavy armor just to retrieve it. Despite he was criticized by his men afterwards, Yoshitsune explained that the reason why he insisted on retrieving it is to retain his pride and avoid shame because if the enemy discovered his supposedly-very-ordinary-and-not-state-of-the-art bow, they'd laugh and say ah so this is the kind of weapon the great general of Genji uses.

This Yoshitsune really does THINK TOO MUCH. Necessary? I don't know, well hey, the guy did won many wars and glory for Yoritomo so maybe hmmm LOL... but I can't help but to wonder what would be running in Takki's head while he was shooting that scene. If you read my translation of the "complain-bicker-essay" of Takki's from Yoshitsune no Minamoto Vol. 19 where almost the entire article was Takki complaining about how taihen and tsurai it was for him to shoot Yoshitsune in his full armor...

.... Mo~ also the armor is so heavyy! ... But ne, getting used to it wasn't something fun. Sou da na, try standing and sitting down for one whole day carrying a backpack with about 30 kilograms worth of weight packed in it. And that was one for one whole week, I've really been through the most tsurai yo~. When I was standing it was painful and when I sat down it was also TSURAI! The armor's weight were all burdening the hip and butt area da yo. Moreover me, I was wearing the full armor, so when I was moving it was actually okay but during the battle tactic planning scenes, not much movements involved so it's like I almost died. I wanted it to end quickly, even though my lines continued as Yoshitsune saying, "No, it shouldn't be like that..." at every battle tactic presented, he was rejecting them da but inside my heart I'm like, "That plan is OK yo! Yoshitsune, you talk about too much unnecessary stuff that gets this too damn long na yo~" like that I was talking to myself yo (laughs). But despite I was battling myself the whole time, but thankfully all the scenes were shot well!

I still kinda giggle everytime I read it... it's just so cute the way he said it... the way he's battling with like... HIMSELF... inside his head! Like in cartoons it would be like, having angel and devil Takki sitting on each shoulder and both sides bickering *LOL*

Now what I'm wondering is... what's going on in Takki's head while he has to shoot that scene of Yoshitsune which consist of these activities:

a. riding on horseback
b. in the ocean
c. IN HIS FULL 30 KG ARMOR
d. having to retrieve a dumb bow that he dropped in the ocean

No, that's not a multiple choice. It's ALL OF THE ABOVE!!!! ROFL!!!!! He'd probably be like... "Yoshitsune you idiot! Why did you drop the stoopid bow in the first place!!!!" LOLOLOLOL... or "Sheesh just ABANDON the stoopid bow! Like anyone actually cares about the dumb bow???" LOL... something like that...!

Oh God! Finally!!!! Something! At least something!!!! This feels like one helluva drought period of Takki-news coz there's just NOTHING going on! Thud! I'm about to lapse into depression coz my friend just left.... and then I go back to Takki to find....... ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Ah... we never quite know what exactly we want. When there's too much stuff going on... we cry and weep because too overwhelmed... too much news to follow, too much heart attacks, too much DOWNLOADS and stuff like that... (I've virtually given up on downloads---they've numbed me so. More like, the download-obsessed people totally numbed me) And now that there's nothing going on... I'm like ffffing complaining to hell and back too! LOL what's wrong with me! LOL!!! I'm like sitting at the office... having nothing to blog and I'm like, dude, do I really have to do actual *OFFICE WORK* now?! Then I thought, ah it's ok... Anyway... aki had been telling me that jenn had heard rumors that TSUBASA HAD BEEN SEEN AT THE YOSHITSUNE SHOOT LOCATION! (Btw, I'm still in the process of learning how to navigate jenn's new V6 site!!!!! THUD!!!! This happens everytime LOLLLLL XDDDD) So I went to read P-san's BBS and she also said that her friend did see Tsubasa on the set of Yoshitsune at Kanagawa coastal areas And supposedly, this location shoot is shooting for the battle of Yashima (actually it's one of the three most important battles---Ichi-no-tani, Yashima, and Dan-no-ura) and I guess it's confirmed somehow that Tsubasa is guest-starring in Yoshitsune sometime around that plot's episodes?

LOL... actually when aki first told me the rumor... the first thing that crossed my mind was geisha Tsubako from the calendar! KAKAKAKAKA I thought, hmmmm what role will they give Tsubasa?! Yoshitsune's concubine? Wait, Yoshitsune already has a concubine right? LOL... Ahhhhhh finally some excitement in Yoshitsune! Yes, I'm a super horrid bad bad bad bad fan for abandoning Yoshitsune but I JUST HAVE NO TIME NOWADAYS! LOL.... I haven't even watched episode 22 let alone ATTEMPT to record it! Ahhhh Takki Solo concert..... it's like, I have to make myself go just because it's Takki's FIRST solo concert! But ahhh I dunno... I think my fandom-meter is a little low right now... you know, fans have their own periods of ups and downs... I'm currently at very very low... thud... (don't kill me--I'll still love T&T forever--but the fangirl tank is running reeeeeally low on gas!) I think I owe this to my friends who have ALMOST SUCCEEDED IN THEIR ATTEMPT IN CONVERTING ME BACK INTO A REAL FLESH & BLOOD PERSON!!! (as opposed to a matrix fangirl living in a computer monitor and BBS and forums?) But I gotta tell you guys (yes, especially THE GUYS!), if you succeed 100% into converting me, I'm sorry but one of you're just gonna have to marry me if you take me away from Takki!!!! *LOL* But yeah, as I was saying.... My Kino is late again on the magazines... I went to Plaza Indonesia yesterday to check why hasn't anyone called me for my Popolo whereas I've already bought my Myojo from Plaza Senayan's branch like about 2 weeks ago already? Whereas Popolo is supposed to come in Myojo's shipment as well? So they told me that their shipment isn't here yet. Is there a red light, I asked. They said, no, we're just way later than Plaza Senayan's shipment. Hmmmmmmmm I still can't comprehend / figure out why two different branches of the same store (same company) gets different shipment schedules *shrugs*... I'm just saying you know... the air shipment is like sooooo much more expensive than the sea shipment (wayyyy more expensive than what Kino Singapore's difference--ours is almost double) but I almost always get my magazines late in Plaza Indonesia. I think I should move everything to Plaza Senayan... but then I'll have to wait 3 more months... argh... magazines... should I just stop completely? ===___=== I'm so confused right now... it's the low fangirl fuel speaking I think *LOL* ami-chan... how? If I move my subs to PS will it be effective immediately next month I get my magazines directly?

Ergh... I really just need to stop buying magazines. Or I should probably pair up with an Indonesian non-Takki fan. Buy a set of magazines together... divide by two... just tear me all the Takki pages, thank you But then if Takki and whoever the other fan's idol is back to back.... errrr....
